Opportunity to Run Radio Festival Station: Full Story

Festival Radio will broadcast 24 hours a day during the three day festival in October. The station will be speech-based, focusing on the topics raised by the main Festival, and will include some live programming.

All content will be generated by the staff of the station, and will be aimed at an external audience of people interested in radio and who were not able to attend.

We will be looking to recruit volunteers to man the station across a range of disciplines. All volunteers will receive training, advice and support throughout, and will have access to the UK's most important radio industry event. it will be a fantastic opportunity for anyone who would like a career in radio.

We are looking for people with a proven track record in voluntary radio, who have shown teamwork, initiative, creativity and strong broadcast ability. We need multi-taskers who are as capable of editing a website as they are behind the desk, who are prepared to put their own ego aside for the good of the team, and who always go the extra mile.

The first position we're recruiting is the Festival Radio Station Manager. This person will help shape the content, sound and structure of the station in the planning stages over the next couple of months, and will lead the team of volunteers during the Festival. We're not looking for a boss, but for someone who has vision, and can inspire others to help them achieve their ambitions. You will need to illustrate strong leadership ability, knowledge of broadcasting practices and a detailed understanding of the radio industry.

To apply, please email David Walker, the SRA Chair, by Friday August 20th, with a CV detailing your relevant experience (please don't send a generic CV), and a short paragraph explaining why you think you would fit the job description and what you would like to gain from the experience.
