    The Chemical Brothers are a British electronic music duo comprising Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons, who met at the University of Manchester, England, United Kingdom in 1992. Initially they called themselves "The Dust Brothers." They changed their name in 1995 given the preexisting American production duo "The Dust Brothers," their burgeoning popularity and the threat of legal action from the originals. Thus, their first album as The Chemical Brothers was titled Exit Planet Dust.

Quentin Leo Cook grew up in Reigate, Surrey, England, and was educated at Reigate Grammar School. He started a punk fanzine titled Peroxide with his neighbour Andrew Thomas and art student Ian McKay (formerly Laidlaw). Contemporary with his publishing activities, he played drums in Disque Attack (a British new-wave-influenced rock band) for which he later performed lead vocals.

    The Crystal Method is a big beat/breaks duo comprising Ken Jordan and Scott Kirkland. Formed in 1993, The Crystal Method is the most recent stop in a string of projects that led them from their native Las Vegas (and some forgettable four-track stabs at vocal jazz music), to the early-'90s L.A. rave scene. Drawn in by its youthful idealism, Jordan and Kirkland became absorbed by L.A.'s underground club culture and began knocking out tracks inspired by their experiences.

After producing and touring with the Dutch group Weekend at Waikiki, together with Phil Mills he founded the industrial band Nerve and released 2 albums (1993 and 1995). After he and Chris Hinze under name A Forest called MULU recorded trip-hop/ambient album and began writing his own tracks as Junkie XL in 1997. He has worked with many electronic music artists, including Sander Kleinenberg, DJ Tiësto and Sasha.
