The Shangri-Las were an American pop music girl group of the 1960s. The group was formed at Andrew Jackson High School in Queens, New York as the Bon Bons in 1963. It consisted of two sets of sisters: Mary Weiss (lead singer) and Elizabeth "Liz/Betty" Weiss, and identical twins Marguerite "Marge" and Mary Ann Ganser. In April of 1964, since the girls were still minors, their parents signed for them with Red Bird Records; Mary was 15, Betty was 17, and the Ganser twins were 16.

The Saturdays are a pop group formed in the United Kingdom in 2007, comprising Una Healy, Mollie King, Frankie Sandford, Vanessa White and Rochelle Wiseman. Songfacts reports that they decided on calling themselves 'The Saturdays' as it sounded fun and different to the other girl bands. They didn't want the name to reference their gender, like Girls Aloud, The Spice Girls or Sugababes. The Saturdays made their recording debut in 2007 under the record label Fascination Records, a sub-division of Polydor Records.

Danity Kane was an American R&B and Pop girl group signed to Bad Boy Records, first established in 2005. Formed on the third installment of MTV's Making the Band reality television series, the group went on to sell two platinum albums and be widely successful. After numerous conflicts the group officially disbanded in 2009. Each member's termination from Bad Boy was shown on seasons of Making The Band 4. The original lineup included Aubrey O'Day, Shannon Bex, Aundrea Fimbres, Dawn Richard, and Wanita "D. Woods" Woodgette.

The Ronettes were a girl group of the 1960s from New York City, best known for their work with producer Phil Spector. They consisted of lead singer Veronica Bennett (a.k.a. Ronnie Spector), her sister Estelle Bennett, and their cousin Nedra Talley. Their defining album is "Presenting the Fabulous Ronettes Featuring Veronica" from 1963, and their most famous songs include "Be My Baby", "Baby, I Love You", "(The Best Part Of) Breakin' Up", and "Walking In The Rain". AKB48 is an all-female Japanese theater/idol group. AKB48 currently consists of 58 members divided into four teams: Team A, Team K, Team B and Team 4. Teams A, K and B contain 16 members, while Team 4 contains 10. Unlike other idol groups in Japan, AKB48 are theatre-based and have their own theatre in Akihabara (a district in Tokyo, Japan) where they perform once every weekday, and twice on both Saturday and Sunday. The theatre is set up on the 8th floor of Don Quixote.
