The blog is born
By Frankie Roberto
This new weblog has been set up by the Student Radio Association as a place in which students working on student radio around the UK can share their experiences, knowledge and news with other stations.
Student radio often suffers from the fact that people are typically involved with their station for a maximum of 3 or 4 years (although some people seem to manage to hang around longer than that), and when people graduate they often take lots of knowledge and experience with them. At the SRA's annual spring conference, delegates often remark how they find it useful to speak to other stations who are going through the same problems as themselves. By blogging what we're doing, we can try and share this knowledge and also hightlight some of the great things that are going on at student radio stations.
This weblog is just one of the ways that the SRA website supports student radio. Also useful is our collaboratively-written wiki, which serves as a starting point for finding out the basic information needed to run a student radio station, and the Student Radio forums, which allow you to talk to other stations directly.
Anyone who is currently working at a student radio station in the UK can contribute to this weblog. E-mail chair@studentradio.org.uk to get access. Please start by giving us an idea of what your first entry might be about, and then after that you'll be free to post directly to the weblog yourself.
Oh, and if you're interested in student radio, be sure to subscribe to the RSS feed to stay up-to-date with reading the blog.
