Mark Crossley – Winner of the 2008 Student Radio Awards has been confirmed as the new presenter of overnights on Absolute Radio.
Mark, who graduated from Fly FM in Nottingham in 2008 won the Best Male award last year and went on to present a 1 hour show on Radio 1 over the May bank holiday.
Speaking on their 1 golden square blog, absolute radio say:
“he won the 2008 Student Radio Awards for the show he did at Fly FM in Nottingham. He then became a presenter for BRMB and the Global West Midlands Network. Then he did a show for Absolute Radio on a bank holiday Monday (at 1.00am)… and we liked him so much that we gave him a job!
But it really isn’t about him. It’s about Absolute Radio, encouraging and nurturing new talent. And providing much needed jobs in the current economic climate. So, well done us.
In seriousness, Mark is still radio’s best male (until the Student Radio Award ceremony this year), and he’s award winning for a reason. To find out what that reason is, you’ll just have to listen to him, weekdays at midnight on Absolute Radio.”
It’s really good to see a national radio station outside the BBC working to support Student Radio talent, and hopefully we’ll see some of the winners of this years awards in November taking to the airwaves really soon.
