Nick Bright studying radio production and media studies at London’s University of Westminster has landed the early morning show on BBC 1Xtra

Nick Bright, 23, thought he was lucky to land a three month contract as a broadcast assistant on his favourite BBC station, as he completed his radio production and media studies course at London’s University of Westminster.

From next month he’ll move seamlessly into the presenter’s seat, hosting 1Xtra’s new 4am -7am early breakfast show, six days a week as the station launches its new look schedule on April 26.

‘This is a fantastic opportunity for me, stepping up from community and student radio to having my own show on 1Xtra. It’s a station that I love and have grown up with and I can’t wait to get started,’ said the new signing, a former resident DJ on his local community station, who has been completing his dissertation while freelancing at Yalding House.
