Find out what the UK Digital Radio Switchover means for your student radio station in the future.

Following a fantastic response to our press release at the beginning of February, we are pleased to announce that the Student Radio Association will be working closely with Digital Radio UK to ensure that the Student Radio community is fully informed and consulted about plans for digital radio switchover.

At a recent meeting with Digital Radio UK Director, Lisa Kerr, we were able to voice our concerns about the impact of the switchover on Student Radio and get answers to some of our questions.

You have no doubt read media reports in relation to the Digital Economy Bill, which is currently being considered by parliament; you may be wondering what impact this will have on Student Radio. The Student Radio Association is convinced that a united industry is a strong industry, and therefore we urge you to offer the bill your full support. In collaboration with Digital Radio UK, we are issuing a briefing, which we hope will give you an idea of the benefits that the bill will bring. In the coming weeks we will also be giving you further details of how you can support the campaign.

Once you have read the briefing and circulated it to the relevant people within your station, we welcome any comments, queries and suggestions via email to our Chair, Tim Dye.

We are satisfied that Digital Radio UK fully recognises the importance of a strong Student Radio community as part of the future radio landscape, and welcome their support to help us achieve our ambitions going forwards.
