The Student Radio Association and www.unsignedbandreview.com have teamed up to offer student radio stations and unsigned bands exposure in a competition called Emerging Icons.

www.unsignedbandreview.com is a website that acts as a link between unsigned bands and the industry. Artists can upload their music to the site and get feedback and reviews from professionals, as well as some valuable exposure. The website is supported by a host of big names, and has been mentioned by Universal, Kerrang, Clash magazine and lots more.

Vicki Blight (ex-student radio at Xpress) regularly does reviews for the site, alongside presenting on Absolute Radio.

The SRA and www.unsignedbandreview.com have teamed up to launch a competition called Emerging Icons. The competiton goes out nationally to student radio stations, to give student bands the chance to be recognised by the industry, and to get some great coverage for student radio. The competition was launched on the Student Radio Chart Show in November, but is open to ANY student radio stations to take part.

How can student radio help?:

All you guys have to do is pick your absolute favourite university or local band and send in a track them to our top-notch partners unsignedbandreview.

They will sort the entries and get them reviewed by industry professionals, who will then whittle them down to finalists for a live show.
