Scratch Radio

BBC Radio 1Xtra’s Tim Westwood was at Scratch Radio in Birmingham to broadcast his show live this week.

Birmingham City University students were given the opportunity to see live radio in action as BBC Radio 1Xtra’s Tim Westwood came to Birmingham City Students’ Union to broadcast his show.

The hip-hop legend is touring the country as part of his daily BBC Radio 1Xtra show, which was broadcast nationally on BBC Radio 1xtra and on Scratch Radio. Scratch played host to Westwood for his programme on Tuesday 29th November 2011.

Alongside the broadcast, Tim Westwood and his production team from BBC Radio 1Xtra gave a question and answer session for School of Media students and those involved in the student union’s Media Groups.

Dan Richards, Scratch Radio Assistant Station Manager: “The opportunity to see a live national radio show put together and broadcast from the students’ union bar and to have the chance to quiz the producers, OB staff and presenters was a real money can’t buy moment for anyone with an interest in the media or music.

“It was inspirational and I think everyone who came really got a huge amount from it.”
