Absolute Radio’s Vicki Blight has told the SRA: “Jodie will present two hours on our national digital radio station Absolute Radio 90s. I believe her relaxed, chatty, northern wit will fit right in.”
By describing Jodie, Vicki continued: “This is the lady who made the entire Student Radio Conference erupt with laughter. Her demo caught the attention of both me and [Absolute Radio’s Head of Presentation] Paul Sylvester.” Jodie’s demo was heard as part of the annual ‘Demo Factor’ session at the conference in April.
Jodie told us: “When I entered Demo Factor I never even expected to get my demo played the whole way through, let alone earn a show on national radio! It’s been the most unbelievable week ever and I can’t think of a better way to end it then on Absolute Radio 90s with Vicki. It shows that anything can happen in radio! I’m so grateful for the opportunities I’ve been given and I’ve loved every single minute it has been amazing!”
You can hear Jodie tonight (Friday 25th May) from 7pm on Absolute Radio 90s on DAB and via their www.absoluteradio90s.co.uk.
Also this weekend, Kyle Wilkinson – 107 Spark FM alumni and current Student Radio Association events officer – makes his debut on Capital FM North East. Kyle has previously presented on Amazing Radio and this is a great next step in his presenting career.
He said: “This will be the first live show I’ve presented this year, so I’m quite excited. I’ve been in already to do some dry-runs and Giles [Tanner] has given me loads of great feedback, helping me to develop.”
Kyle can be heard tomorrow (Saturday 26th May) from 8am across the North East on Capital FM, and at www.capitalfm.com/northeast
This is just a part of the good news to come from 107 Spark FM, the North East’s Best Station (Radio Academy Nations & Regions Award). Earlier the month the station was nominated as Best Student Station at the New York Radio Awards alongside nominations for two of their documentaries. The ceremony will be held in New York on June 18th.
