Pete Allison and Tamsin Grainger, “Best Male” and “Best Female” at the Student Radio Awards last year will present on BBC Radio 1 this bank holiday weekend.

It comes the same weekend as the Student Radio Association announce entries for the 2012 Student Radio Awards officially open

Tamsin Grainger from Cardiff University’s Xpress Radio can be heard from 4am, Monday 4th June on BBC Radio 1, and Fly FM’s Pete Allison from Nottingham Trent University 24 hours later on Tuesday 5th June at 4am.

Pete tells us: “Student radio has opened up some incredible opportunities for me since winning the award in November. It’s [been] a busy few months since I won and I’m really excited for what lies ahead”. Since winning the award Pete has been a regular presenter on Capital FM Yorkshire.

BBC Radio 1 & 1Xtra’s Student Radio liaison, Neil Sloan commented: “BBC Radio 1 is committed to providing on-air opportunities for new presenters and the Student Radio Awards provide the opportunity for us to showcase the very best in Student Radio across the UK. We’re looking forward to hearing Pete and Tamsin’s shows.”
