Tom Watts (from Fly Fm – Nottingham Trent University) is the new voice of weekend mornings on Capital FM East Midlands!

Another student radio success story as Tom Watts (Fly FM) will be ridding you of your weekend hangovers on Capital FM East Midlands. Tom is currently studying at Nottingham Trent University, where he has one year remaining. Over recent months, Tom has been presenting on The Hits Radio – but this weekend has started a new job presenting on the Nottingham-based station.

Tom says “I’m very excited to be joining Capital East Midlands. With another year of my degree to go at Nottingham Trent Uni, it’s a fantastic opportunity to present weekend mornings on such a great station.

It’s been my dream since joining Fly FM a couple of years ago to be a radio presenter, and have loved the time I’ve spent at Fly and at The Hits Radio, where I have learned a huge amount.

When I fell in love with student radio, I never thought I would one day be able to do it as a job – it’s a dream come true!”

Tom is also the SRA’s Midlands Regional Officer, and as well as balancing his presenting job, he’s been organising a Midlands training day and nominations party for our members, which will be held at Nottingham Trent Univeristy and Spanky Van Dyke’s (in Nottingham) respectively on Wednesday the 8th of October.

It has truly been a great month for student radio – here’s for many more to come!
