It seems like an age ago when we gathered in Cardiff for a celebration of all things geeky and radio, but it was only a month ago. Apparently. On the Monday night, we hosted Demo Factor. Five judges, hundreds of students, hundreds of demos ready to be critiqued in front of both students and industry alike.

Listen to our Demo Factor podcast to hear some of the best demos that were heard that night, including:

– Charlotte Mason (Insanity)
– Chris Boyle (Spark Sunderland)
– Sian Cooper (Livewire)
– Ella Atcheson (Rare FM)

and overall winner Matt Curtis (Fly FM).

We hear from them about the feedback they were given and how nerve racking it all was, AND we hear from the judges about what makes a great radio demo.

Mo Ayoub from Leeds Student Radio, who did EXTRAORDINARILY well at Demo Factor and whose demo was played in full on the night, has since been offered a pilot show on The Hits Radio, which aired last week.

AND ANOTHER massive congratulations to Chris Boyle who was offered a pilot at Capital Scotland.

But the winner of Demo Factor this year was Matt Curtis, who was described as “radio-ready”. Matt will be joining up with Paul Sylvester at Absolute Radio 90s to present a one-off show. Past winners, George Godfrey and Sammy James, who also won a show on the station, have since gone on to present on the station long term.

I think this has probably been our most successful Demo Factor yet!

Finally, don’t miss these fantastic podcasts which our team made on the night – and roll on the National Student Radio Conference next year!
