The lovely folk over at Magic have sent us the details of three new job positions they have coming up at their station. They are absolutely perfect for ex-student radio-ers (technical term right there) and graduates, so do have a look and apply if they’re the jobs for you.

 

Social & Digital Assistant Producer

One of the UK’s most loved radio brands is expanding its Social & Digital production and is seeking an Assistant Producer to join Magic’s growing team.

You will write and create content on social channels and magic.co.uk; moderate Magic’s social channels and respond to audience enquiries; drive more engagement and connection between the social channels and the on-air programming.

The successful candidate will be passionate about the power of social media and possess an expert knowledge of networks including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram, as well as a relentless work ethic and a keen eye for how social media can be used to reach new audiences and build community and loyalty amongst existing fans.

Key Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of social networks, online communities
  • Experience using social networks and creating social or digital content for brands
  • Strong writing skills and English to at least GCSE level
  • Creative – keen to get involved in ideas sessions and generate content on your own
  • Experience using design software such as Photoshop and willingness to develop these skills to professional level
  • Experience using website content management systems would be an advantage, willingness to learn essential
  • Must be able to organise workload, prioritise and multi-task throughout the day to meet project deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Resourceful – ability to identify opportunities; develop new initiatives and compelling creative solutions for delivering great content
  • Interpersonal skills – effectively communicating, building rapport and relating to others at all levels. The ability to think on your feet and excite people about the work you and the team are producing
  • A great communicator – ability to simplify the end-to- end production process
  • Flexible – happy to work out of office hours to cover weekend shows and live events
  • An interest in radio and broadcasting would be an advantage
  • Audio editing skills would be an advantage, willingness to learn essential
  • Video editing skills would be an advantage, willingness to learn essential

Imaging Producer

One of the UK’s most loved radio brands is seeking a passionate Imaging Producer to join its growing team, help develop the Magic sound and grow the new network of stations including Magic Chilled and Mellow Magic.

The successful candidate need not have years of experience, but will be passionate about all forms of audio branding with a relentless work ethic and a mastery of multitrack editing.

You will create high quality audio branding, trails, promotional campaigns and idents, perfectly matched to the target audience which ensure Magic has the most welcoming, natural and authentic sound of any station in the UK.

Key Qualifications

  • Proven experience in creating audio branding and trails
  • Expert user of digital audio multitrack software
  • Familiar with a radio broadcast environment including microphones, dynamic processing and mixing consoles
  • Ability to conceive and execute campaigns, pulling together different methods to communicate a message powerfully
  • Organise workload, prioritises and able to multi-task throughout the day to meet project deadlines and thrive in a fast paced environment
  • Resourceful – ability to identify opportunities; develop new initiatives and compelling creative solutions for delivering great content
  • Interpersonal skills – effectively communicating, building rapport and relating to others at all levels. The ability to think on your feet and excite people about the work you and the team are producing

Production Assistant

One of the UK’s most loved radio brands is seeking a Production Assistant with a relentless work ethic and a desire to gain experience of all areas of radio production at a national level.

In a wide and varied job, you will produce and edit features, record presenters and interviews, write and update scripts, operate a live studio, respond and edit incoming calls, texts and social comments, prepare pre-recorded programmes for broadcast, provide support at live events, deputise for live show producers and assist with production admin such as music research and reporting.

The successful candidate will be passionate about radio, with a strong understanding of the broadcast and digital audio landscapes and an eagerness to learn new skills and contribute ideas to help Magic and its new network of stations grow into the future.

Key Qualifications

  • Proven experience in broadcast, community, student or hospital radio
  • Able to use digital audio multitrack software such as Adobe Audition
  • Fast learner of software and systems
  • Familiar with a broadcast environment including microphones and mixing consoles
  • Able to work calmly, quickly and effectively in high-pressure situations, such as a live broadcast
  • Organise workload, prioritises and able to multi-task throughout the day to meet project deadlines and thrive in a fast paced environment
  • Creative – keen to get involved in ideas sessions
  • Resourceful – able to think on your feet and find solutions
  • Interpersonal skills – effectively communicating, building rapport and relating to others at all levels.
  • Flexible – happy to work out of office hours to cover weekend shows and live events
