One of the final festivals of the year is Bestival, newly moved to the south coast in Dorset, is back with a stunning line-up filled with lots of great student radio favourites. Smoke Radio’s Sofia Loporcaro has taken the time to curate a playlist of the best bands playing the festival so give that a listen below and check out her top tips too.

Get ready to enter a whole new world of magic and music. Bestival 2017 is touching down at The Lulworth Estate in Dorset from September 7th to 10th, and here at the Student Radio Association, we can’t wait!

Bestival was founded by four friends thirteen years ago, and has grown to truly epic proportions over time. Amongst other things, it won ‘Best Major Festival’ three times, in 2015, 2012, and 2010. For us over at the SRA, this
festival also has a special place in hearts: Rob da Bank, one of the four founders, is a fellow radio maker, known for championing new music on BBC Radio 1.
The lineup is endless, but certainly doesn’t let quantity trump quality; musical heavyweights Pet Shop Boys, A Tribe Called Quest, and Justice are amongst those topping the bill this year. They are joined by many more recent favorites, such as The xx, Rag’N’Bone Man, Tash Sultana, Laura Mvula, Johnny Flynn and the Sussex Wit, and Loyle Carner, just to name a few. You can check the full line-up HERE.

Though music remains at its heart, there is much, much more to Bestival. There are endless activities, seminars, food stands, camp sites, and more to explore over 4 days. These are split into 8 unique areas: Ambient Forest, Slow Motion, Cuckoo Clump, Colour Field, Love-Bot Park, The Lawn, The Castle Field, and Caravanserai. This festival site will be a world of its own, a strange and wonderful haven for festival goers.
There’s still plenty of time to grab tickets, so don’t miss out! You can get them right HERE
