Yonaka. Loud, vibrant and punchy. New track ‘Bubblegum’ hits you with the force of an alt pop hurricane. Strong vocals lead their way into heavy riffs and smooth verses break into intense hooks.
The fervent thumping of alt rock waves in new EP ‘Heavy’ announces them as firm contenders of the Class of 2018 that are here to stay.
Their new EP builds on a variety of alternative genres, demonstrating both fiery alt rock and a dash of grungy pop. If you’re still un-wavered, maybe the signing of the mesmeric Brighton four piece to Atlantic Records earlier this year will convince you? Not to mention their working with producer Rodaidh McDonald (King Krule, Sampha). Or perhaps their supporting of Frank Carter on tour, or their phenomenal set at Leeds festival this summer, the list of credentials continues.
Between this they’ve somehow had time to continue to craft their live talent this year during a huge 16 date tour, cementing themselves as one of the best new live acts to see in 2017.
It’s clear that there is a beating desire that comes from within this EP, one of success and freedom. Their organic and glossy style rockets them into 2018, where there is no doubt that that they will conquer.
