The Radio Academy’s 30 Under 30 list was announced today, bursting with Student Radio Alumni. 

Supported by ReelWorld, the 30 Under 30 list recognises young creatives in the audio and radio industry.

Half of the 2018 winners are from student radio… Incredible! Here our are student radio alumni who made the list – this could be you next year!

Abbie McCarthy, RaW 1251AM

Announced first on the list was Abbie McCarthy, a former member of RaW 1251AM at the University of Warwick. Abbie won the Gold Best Newcomer award at the Student Radio Awards 2012 Supported by BBC Radio 1 and Global. Abbie now presents BBC Music Introducing at BBC Radio Kent and has covered shows on BBC Radio 1.

Liam Hadley, Xpress Radio

Liam Hadley from Xpress Radio in Cardiff also made the list. He is now living the dream as the Imaging Producer for Radio 1 Breakfast with Greg James. Wow!

Harvey McCabe, KCL Radio

Former SRA Exec and KCL Radio member Harvey McCabe made the list! He is now the Social Media Producer at BBC Radio 2.

Alexandra Jueno, CSRfm

Go Alexandra! Formerly of CSRfm in Canterbury, she is now an Assistant Producer for Magic Breakfast. ✨

Jamie Lee, University Radio Bath

During Jamie’s time at University Radio Bath until 2016, he was the Head of Advertising and Marketing and Treasurer. He was also the Chart Officer at the SRA once upon a time! Jamie is now the Content Producer for the BigTop40 and Capital. Congrats!

Scott Hastie, Spark Sunderland

Our very own Scott Hastie made the list too! Formerly of Spark Sunderland, Scott is the Music Officer at the SRA and he SO deserves this recognition. He helps our member stations with everything music related and recently set up the SRA Music Network.

Juliette has done it again! From being the Head of Audio Production and Mainstream Programme controller at Xpress Radio in Cardiff, to producing audio across the Heart Network.

Ben Sheppard, Fly FM

On the list again! Fly FM alumnus, Ben Sheppard, won Gold Best Newcomer at the Student Radio Awards 2013 Supported by BBC Radio 1 and Global. He now presents on Capital Breakfast across the North West and North Wales.

Anishka Sharma, RaW 1251AM

The RaW alumni are really pulling it out of the bag! From presenting at Radio Warwick, Anishka is a Radio Producer at Whistledown Productions, making BBC documentaries and podcasts.

Nick Harris, RaW 1251AM

Nick was the Station Manager at RaW 1251AM in Warwick during his time in student radio and now works as an Assitant Producer at Absolute Radio. Congrats, Nick!

Sammy James, Leeds Student Radio

Sammy James was the Programme Controller at Leeds Student Radio back in the day! He had great success with the SRA in 2015, winning Gold Best Male and Bronze Best Chart at the Student Radio Awards 2015 Supported by BBC Radio 1 and Global. He also took home a DemoFactor win! Sammy now works as an Assistant Producer at KISS FM Breakfast and Presents on Absolute Radio 90s and 00s.

Cornelius Mendez, CSRfm

Cornelius was a presenter and producer at Canterbury station CSRfm and was nominated for Best Male in the Student Radio Awards 2013 supported by BBC Radio 1 and Global. He is now an Assistant Producer and Writer at talkRADIO. Oh, and he produced the Love Island podcast this summer. JOB GOALS.

Harrison Stock, Spark Sunderland

Starting at Spark Sunderland, Harrison has a huge passion for music – He shows this on his Transmission Roundhouse shows. He is also a producer at BBC Radio 1. Congratulations!
