The Student Radio Awards supported by BBC Radio 1 and Global may have only just passed, but we are already hard at work planning #SRACon! We’re very excited that the Student Radio Conference 2019 will be hosted by Xtreme Radio in Swansea!
We got chatting to Alex Evans, Station Manager, of Xtreme, who said:
‘This promises to be the closest conference to the sea ever with the campus being right on the beach. So, I can promise some sandwiches with actual sand in for once. Swansea is on the up when it comes to radio events, with Radio 1’s Biggest Weekend visiting Swansea this year. This conference is probably the biggest thing that Xtreme has hosted and we want to impress you all like we impressed the events team. Our team is going to try our hardest to put on the biggest and best conference ever and to put Swansea on the radio map.’
So why did we pick Xtreme Radio? Our Events Officer, Dan Wildman, gave us the low down!
Making the decision of where to host Student Radio Conference 2019 has been one of the hardest decision of this year, but the professionalism and quality of Xtreme’s bid and the dedication shown by the team so far filled me with great confidence for the months ahead. Swansea University’s newly-built Bay Campus is the perfect location for the daytime sessions, and their absolutely stunning Great Hall gives Demo Factor and the I Love Student Radio Awards the home it deserves. We can’t wait to start planning it all as it is going to be an exciting, fun-filled three days.
Deputy Events Officer Nels Hylton had this to say about the Student Radio Conference:
As Dan said, the decision surrounding conference was easily the hardest decision we have had to make all year. However, this team really wants to set the standard with this year’s conference and rest assured; we will leave nothing to chance in the planning and preparation this year. From the production of Demo Factor to the decoration of the I Love Student Radio Awards we really want to improve the standard of conference and make it one to remember for everyone involved. As we carry on with the planning you may even see some behind the scenes on the SRAs socials to see what we get up to! So make sure to purchase your tickets once they’re on sale and I’ll see you on the beach in Swansea this April (weather permitting).
The Student Radio Conference 2019 will be held 16th-18th April, so save the date and start making travel plans!
