YOU Decide Who’s Officially the SRA’s ‘Next Big Thing’
Late last year, the Student Radio Music Network returned with our annual Class of 2020. The Class of 2020 features 16 artists voted to be a part of the class by students from all over the UK. Members of previous classes have gone on to become global superstars, including Billie Eilish, Lewis Capaldi, and Sigrid.
We gave our followers the chance to have their say on who they think is going to join those names as being the Next Big Thing.
We started off with an Joy Crookes easing into the Quarter Finals against Everyone You Know, followed by the biggest winning margin of Inhaler beating Kudu Blue by 88%, 303 surpassing Prospa, Hamzaa defeating Maisie Peters, these were joined by APRE, Sea Girls, Lauran Hibberd, and the tightest contest saw Squid into the next round with 58% to Ed the Dog’s 42%.
The Quarter-Finals saw Joy Crookes smash Sea Girls with 96% of the vote, she was joined by Hamzaa besting 303, with APRE and Lauran Hibberd joining them at Inhaler and Squid’s expense.
The Semi-Finals gave us two great pairings of Lauran Hibberd and Hamzaa, and Joy Crookes and APRE. Despite the immense support for all artists, APRE saw off Joy Crookes with 76% of the vote, and Lauran Hibberd booked her place in the final with 64%.
Our Final puts Lauran Hibberd and APRE, two of Student Radio’s most followed artists up for your vote on who will be the SRA’s Next Big Thing!
