About Nerve Radio
Nerve Radio is a music based student radio station at Bournemouth University covering anything from a Live Lounge to specialist music shows. It is predominantly a pop and dance based station, with specialist music shows in the evening ran by students for students. Nerve Radio was set up in 1995 by two proactive students who wanted to have a radio station to use at their leisure. In the spirit of the Students' Union recognising eager, enthusiastic students we set it up for them. In the beginning Nerve Radio was VERY different from the sound proofed studios that there are now. It started in a porta cabin outside Poole House near to cash machine. Ever since 1995 we have run a two two-week FM broadcast each year, one during freshers fortnight and another in March, which is presented entirely by students here at Bournemouth University. In 2010, Phill Jupitus presented the Nerve Radiobreakfast show on FM with two other students, which was a great experience for all the volunteers who got to meet him and the lucky students who got to work on-air with him. Since September 2010 Nerve Radio has been run by it's own student radio committee and has grown from strength to strength. Ever growing in popularity and professionalism, Nerve Radio is gaining the recognition is deserves as each year passes
Nerve Radio started up when two students requested that there be a radio studio that they can use at their leisure. Being the Students' Union that we are, we set it up for them and since then it has transformed from an outside cabin into a plush soundproof studio next to the union offices.
