TUxtra - Teesside University
Where is TUxtra?
TUXtra is a multimedia platform showcasing content produced by students and volunteers from Teesside University. The radio arm of TU Xtra is lead by students and a management committee of student volunteers. The students are supported by a team of academic and technical staff from within the university. The volunteer led content is also supplemented by assessed work from Journalism, Sports Journalism students and those studying Broadcast Media Production degrees.
Click was originally called UTRN (University of Teesside Radio Network) which launched on 21st January 2008 and is managed by the university, whilst run by students. In the summer of 2009, the university changed it's name from University of Teesside, to Teesside University - meaning UTRN needed a rebrand. After running a competition to design the new name and look for the radio station, Click was formed and launched as a brand in Freshers' week of the 09/10 academic year. In 2018 the station rebranded and merged with other student media channels as TUXtra, a multimedia platform showcasing content produced by students and volunteers from Teesside University.
