NEWS & INFO STATIONS MUSIC EVENTS SUPPORT FORUMS

KateP
Hi! I'm Kate, SRA Events Officer for 08/09.

My job is to look after the organisation of several major events for all member stations to attend, including the annual Student Radio Awards, the Spring Conference and nominations parties across the country.

I will be keeping members up to date on other events they might find interesting such as Radio Academy events, exhibitions we are attending etc. I'm also here to offer advice and help on events that member stations might be hosting at their own stations.

Feel free to get in touch with any comments or suggestions by e-mailing me at events@studentradio.org.uk.

Demo Idol

Do you have what it takes to be the SRA Demo Idol?

If you think you have star quality, bring your demo to the National Student Radio conference next week.

This is your chance to learn from the best, with a panel of esteemed judges chaired by Wise Buddah Head of Talent Chris North. He will be joined by BBC Radio 1 producer, Neil Sloan, presenter Vicky Blight and producer, Sam Gregory. Learn what it takes to make a good demo, and what makes a bad demo in this great interactive session.

Demo Idol session – 5pm Tuesday 18th March.

Don’t forget to bring your demo, if you’re brave enough!

The Big Debate: Technology and The Future of Radio

On Tuesday there will be an exciting panel debate chaired by Matt Deegan. We will have presentations from the panelists with the theme: “Is radio’s digital future the same as student radio’s digital future”

Matt Deegan has asked that stations record a 1 minute video (web cam or mobile phone vid is fine)
on how their station is dealing with their own digital future.

Then if the video could be uploaded to youtube (and added to the facebook conference group) that would be ace.

It shouldn't take too long to do, and we think it will really add a lot to the session.

[Nikki] March 3, 2008 10:16 PM Radio Academy Masterclass

Hey Guys!

The Radio Academy have organised another Masterclass, which will take place in Cardiff on Saturday (8th March). It's set to be a fantastic event and would be stupid to miss!

Radio Academy Masterclasses are conferences aimed at young people who want to break into the radio industry. Delegate registration is only £25 for a full day conference including lunch and refreshment breaks!

Sessions will include making a good impression with the programme controller, Sports Commentary, Marketing, Radio Advertising, How to Start out in Radio and an exciting session about the ins and outs of production by Aled Haydn Jones, producer on BBC Radio 1's Chris Moyles Show.

[Nikki] February 26, 2008 08:03 PM Demon FM Hit and Run!

Andy Schooledge, the wonderful Station Manager from Demon FM asked the SRA to promote what they'll be doing for one of the days of Hearing Aid, which is really exciting!!!:

"Basically, on Friday the 14th March, Demon FM are planning to
do is to raise money for Hearing Aid by getting sponsored to travel
across the country visiting the participating stations and 'crashing'
the studios. The catch is, they can't pay for ANYTHING, so there will
be a mix of blagging, begging and stealing to get to the stations.

Firstly, I wanted to give you guys a heads up so you know that
Demon FMers might be popping in to say hi, and that you didn't think
we were invading or something.

Secondly, I was wondering if a team from your station wanted
to do the same fundraising event on the same day and come and crash
our studio in Leicester. It would be nice to make an event that goes
round the country available to all the stations. It should be a laugh
if nothing else!"

Drop him an email if you want to get involved (you'd be stupid not to) - manager@demonfm.co.uk

If anyone else wishes to promote their event to the student radio community, just email the details to events@studentradio.org.uk!

Thanks!
