Hubert Eiter of PURE said:
“Radio still holds a special place in the nation’s hearts, even in a world dominated by streaming and online content. As we celebrate PURE’s 25th anniversary, we’re investing in the next generation of broadcasters through this new grant with the Student Radio Association.
Student radio is where so many future presenters take their first steps, but increasing costs are creating barriers. This grant is designed to help stations stay on air and keep nurturing fresh talent.”
The grant was officially announced on World Radio Day (13 February) by Richie Anderson, who began his own career in student radio.
He says “I owe so much to my time in student radio, it’s genuinely where everything started for me. I learned how to tell stories, how to connect with listeners, and how to be myself behind the mic. So seeing PURE launch a grant dedicated to helping student stations is really special.”
